Treasures in Heaven

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21 | NKJV

Treasures in heaven cannot be bought. They are eternal.

No amount of power, prestige, or property can be taken with you when you die. It is all but a distant memory.

Real treasures are family, friends and faith. It is the relationships that we bond that really matter. They are eternal. These relationships are what make a person truly happy--and rich.

I don't have much money, power or prestige, but I am rich beyond anything I've ever dreamt about. I have EVERYTHING my heart desires.

I have everything I need to survive and be comfortable, and I live in a country that makes that possible. I have a wonderful husband who loves and cares for me and four beautiful children and have built a solid relationship with them all. Our house is a home full of love. I get to do what I love and make money doing it. And if any of my children wanted to live somewhere else, I have the faith that God will be in the midst, working everything out for the best.

I pity the poor man who makes a hundred grand a year and has no treasures in heaven--never spends time with his family because he's too busy making money, has no relationship with his daughters because he lives for himself, only argues with anyone about anything, and has become bitter and negative. That is not a life I would want. I am happy where I am now, and nothing will change that because I will always have God.
